Kairouan: City of Tunisia known by its mosques and its craft industry of carpet , famous in the world. Kairouan is founded in 671 by Okba Ibn Nafâa, propagator of Islam in Africa, Kairouan knew its golden age in IXth Century at the Aghlabides era and became a center of radiation in the Maghreb (North Africa). The city counts several religious monuments of which the large mosque Okba Ibn Nafaa, the mausoleum of the Barber companion of the prophet Mohammed.
The basin of Aghlabides is the large water tank of the town of Kairouan built in IXth century.

The site of Sufetula presents a regular town planning where the rectilinear streets are cut to right angle and delimit reserved insulae for the dwellings.
